Sound is Bad - Windows XP

I got the sound to work in XP, but when I play a song or get an error message I hear weird static-y sound artifacts while they play.  Any ideas?

Lol, that was a fast fix.

I changed my settings from Stereo Speakers to Stereo Headset and it worked.

I plugged in earbuds, they worked flawlessly.  Out of curiosity, plugged old ones back in and they worked.
