Author Topic: What's better for losing weight, running or a brisk walk?  (Read 1301 times)

A teacher once went on a "diet" to show his students that the only thing that really matters when losing weight is calories. He ate nothing but twinkies and other Hostess products for 30 days and actually lost weight while doing it.

That sounds really dangerous.

Anyway, I'm a fatty fat fat too and I've been trying to lose weight for two months now. (go to gym 2-5 times per week)
Anyway I barely lost anything so I'm trying to fix my diet. I don't really eat a lot, but I'm guessing my metabolism isn't high when I'm exercising.

Balemia.

OT: Try joining some muscle building clubs or stuff like that at school if you don't minding working out with other people. If you aren't into building a lot of muscle then try some sports that include lots of running so you have fun while you run like lacrosse or soccer or rugby

Running is bad for your back~
Hey, I have bad back! But then again I got that from my dad...

I got a very bad back from my dad's side of the family.
:c

I do tabata, but if you are into running, one this to do is just all out sprint for 30 seconds, walk for 30 seconds, sprint again and repeat.

Also, just running definitely wont be enough to make a difference, weight loss is when your body burns the calories that it needs, so if you go running for say 30 min, then do things like squats, push ups, bridges, Self Delete plants, crunches and all that you will lose a lot more.
Basically you need to exercise multiple areas of your body to get a full effect, just one or two areas is not enough.

Try Couch 2 5k, it might not be exactly what you're looking for in terms of losing weight, but it's a great way to begin.

That sounds really dangerous.
With excess weight, as a temporary plan, it's actually quite safe.
