everyone knows the rule

2. Do not post adult content. - That means no nudity or gross stuff.
everyone does

but
if you have a clean image, but it's on a website with other NSFW images, is it against the rules to post it?
because you could cut down some things in the URL, taking you to the site's homepage
but you would have to deliberately be trying to do that in order for that to happen
so, is it okay, or not okay?

It's not bannable unless there's a clickable link. If the picture extension has other NSFW pictures at the root URL, I think you're okay. At least...I've been okay when I've posted front army pictures in the old hot girls topic.

To be on the safe side, I might suggest re-uploading to tinypic or something.

When in doubt, rehost the image.

When in doubt, rehost the image.

That's what i would go with, but in my experiences with posting some...suggestive pictures, the image source link being a link to NSFW content hasn't warranted any ban. But yes, just to be safe, rehost it.

This rule needs to be reinforced, if you seriously need "adult content"2 go on one of those many Booru sites, not dump it on a forum for a lego game for ages 8 and up.

You can just save the image to your computer, then reupload it using a hosting site.

go back to your thread if you want to continue whining about how bad everything is
