Unless you're talking about the grip, the patina is real. But that's because this sword isn't brand new. It's several decades old and it has been sitting around in a dusty basement for a very long time. I think it was nice and clean when it was made.

The patina is real. The sword isn't very old. It's just the rust and dust.
It was in my aunts basement wedged in the ceiling. It has probably been up there for quite a long time without moving.
