Author Topic: How to build Xuggler with Maven? - I'm at a loss.  (Read 4952 times)

Several months back, I installed Xuggler during version 3. This was because Paraknight's TV Mod for Minecraft required it to play videos. I was able to patch over it with files that would make it work for Windows 7 64-bit. Yogscast recently did a spotlight on a revival of the TV Mod (Paraknight quit Minecraft). I just went to install the latest version of Xuggler, and I am suddenly grandly lost. There is no more installers. Everything requires building. I click the resources it asks, and it lists all these other things. They don't list where to put things because they assume the people trying this have compiled things stuffloads of times. I am utterly loving lost on how to install this.

Some page I can't even find again says Xuggler can only be built to work on Windows 7 64-bit. AKA I can't try the build the installer way, I need it compiled. Oddly, I'm quite sure you could just pack the files up and have them put like an installer... Basically, I need help figuring out what the forget I need to do to get Xuggler Windows 7 64-Bit. Again, the resources it tells me to install say you need other things and don't upfront list where all their stuff goes and if there are easy ways to do it... Or something... I'm so confused.

Change the extension to a .txt and type random binary digits into it on notepad. Problem solved.

Says the drugged up, drunk guy. You shouldn't tell people when you're doing all that.

I'm so losing it because this is likely not as complicated as it seems, but no one at all is helping with it. I need some sense of direction in WTF I'm doing. I download Maven and Ivy, but I have no idea how to use these loving files... I'm getting so pissed...

Could someone compile the installer for me? It said something about Xuggler 64-bit for Windows Vista/7 only building (AKA from the build files instead of installer), but considering the other things I read, it should still give the right files if you compile the installer instead.

Could someone either compile the installer or explain the process to do so in a way where I know where all the files go?

I just got as far as getting Maven to actually function, but from here I'm lost. I had it generate a project and then replaced the text in the pom.xml with the stuff from the site, but all I get are errors. Also, Maven instantly closes the command prompt even though I have pause on, so I can't tell what's going wrong.

Edit:

Using the Maven pom.xml from this link: http://www.xuggle.com/xuggler/downloads I removed the ... lines as they were giving other errors. I also changed the version to 5.4.

Edit2: I compiled the test one. What did it do? Make a folder with a bunch of files. What do I do with them? No freaking idea.

Where do I put all these files?

Where would I put the .jar? Where is everything else...? I'm confused.
