kinda what i figured....

What you think you need a million colors to convey can often (read: almost always) be visually solved through lighting and differing juxtapositions between colors.

Think about it this way:  A given street muralist or graffiti artist has, on a good day, maybe 32 colors of spraypaint to play around with.  And their (good) stuff doesn't ever look boring.

i have idea. how about blockland just has one of these
That would PWN if it was made in the following way:
A) All of those colors (or most of 'em) were implemented in the "default" colorset.
B) They would always be in all servers, no matter what.
C) The 'custom colors' part would be for the special colors ppl want in their servers.

There really should just be some "universal colors" so things like builds and macros don't get messed up and stuff... Let us have customization, but in addition to the built-in colors. This would make everything easier for most people who don't care for colorsets... (I myself use the default with a grayscale, a brownscale, and an invis added in... in this way it doesn't muck up builds made with default.)

I also dislike the lack of colour variation, but I also dislike, even more so, bad performance during a game. If you need specific colours for a specific build, design your own paint palette that has the colours you need. Maybe someone can create a colour palette organizer/menu that you can change colour palettes while on your server. Host only of course.

The only thing I dislike about the original palette is the lack of purple.

Don't Download it.Preiod

You misunderstand. My 'issue' is not with me DLing a paint pack. I certainly don't want one. My 'issue' is with all these other servers out there that do have a paint pack out there.

It would be nice if people could just stick to the orignal colors.
This man speaks the truth!

Blockland currently uses five datablocks for each colour. One for the spray can image ("weapon" in your hand), one for the projectile it fires, and three particles - spray, hit brick, hit unpaintable. 5 x 64 = 320.

This doesn't include the FX colours, each of which have 5 also. 9 x 5 = 45.

For just the paint can, that's 365 datablocks. The game can only handle so many, and each datablock takes a while to transmit. Do you want it doubled, tripled or even quadrupled so you can have 840 shades of red, green and blue while taking 10 minutes to load every single server?

The bottom line is that 64 is more than enough unless you're trying to build some kind of goatse mural.
