I'm sure it didn't happen exactly as he described it, people can usually be disoriented in traumatizing situations. If he was a religious person, then I don't see how that would be out of the ordinary, I've heard people say it before.

The problem is he's both young and underwent a traumatizing situation. I'm very suspicious about most of it but I do believe that his family was killed.
