How do I make Steam install to my external drive? (Mac)

probably because you don't have to be connected to the internet to play steam games

The steam folder is in there. If you have Mac OS X Lion then your Library folder is hidden and you either need to use "SHIFT+CMD+G" while in your user directory or use the terminal command to show hidden folders. Both will end up with the same result..

You'll have to use a symbolic link, I'll tell you how once I figure it out myself.

You still have to make a symbolic link or Steam won't recognize that you moved the steam folder.

1. Quit Steam
2. If you haven't already, move the "Steam" folder in "/users/[usernamehere]/Library/Application Support/" to your new location
3. Open Terminal
4. Copy/Paste:

ln -s [new steam folder location] "/users/[usernamehere]/Library/Application Support/Steam"Hint: You can drag your moved Steam folder into terminal and it will automatically type the directory for you.
5. Restart Steam

Yes, Idid that but Steam is still detecting my COMPUTER's disk space and says it's full.

I'm not sure if this will fix it, but try putting the Steam application on your external hard drive. DON'T put it in your Steam folder, I heard that makes it freak out.

Its not a matter of being hard, but being different.

Its well known that people are less inclined to want to learn a different operating system layout to the one they are accustomed to.

You strike me as being someone who tested a Mac with a pre-determined disinterest in actually learning how to use it lol. Lots of people do that in these circle, beats me as to why.
