Author Topic: are footstep sounds possible?  (Read 862 times)

I had this little idea a while ago
is it possible to either script/make an addon that makes footstep sounds when your blockhead walks? thought it would be kinda cool.

I think Port made this a while back. He put a video on YouTube too.

I have noticed code snippets in a playertype script, (horse, I believe), that are commented out that deal with specific footstep sounds.

Well, the closest to this that I've seen is the footstep sounds on RTB. You'd have to do a hell of a lot of eventing.

Why does Port never release most of his work? That sucks.

either its way too buggy or its not packaged correctly

There are a bunch of datablock properties defined by TGE that are for footstep sounds, but I don't think any of them actually work. Kinda like how there's a bunch of stuff for in-water speed.

it works fine and is packaged

Also, according to port, there was planned voice support for TGE
I think the devs planned all these features, then made the engine up to the point it is today, then realized it sucked and gave up on addittional features

He's doing the same stuff truce did, he makes all these cool addons that people really want, and then he keeps it all to himself and never gives it out and then feeds off the attention he gets from it.

It's a shame some of the best developers out there are also big starfishs.
