I've seen ones on minecraft, they take a picture and a bot builds what's in the picture.
I searched, by the way, but since I don't know the actual name of this bot, I didn't get any results I wanted.

I haven't seen a link for it in a while, but it's floating around here somewhere.

You're thinking of Img2Brick.
That executable file that produces slow-building inredibly large file size macros that are loving gigantic in brickcount. (you can't reasonably build anything more than 150x150)

Unless the macro saver format changed, then it still works.
All it does it convert the image to a colour palette based on a colorset, then generate a macro save text file.
