If I were you, I'd just do user-content alpha. Sure people say it's hacky or something like that, but at least Badspot didn't say not to do it.
On second thought, I read the last few pages of the user-content alpha topic. Both methods seem pretty bad.. If I were you I'd just stick with the crummy textures until v21 comes out. It can't be too long now.
