Author Topic: My computer just blue screened  (Read 734 times)

all i was doing was writing a reply to a post on the forum and my screen went black
then it gave me a blue screen and then my computer restarted itself with no issues whatsoever

does anyone know what happened?
how come my computer can restart itself like that?

Should have tried to memorize the message while it flashed.

blue screen, white text but it didint look EXACTLY like the blue screen of death
i don't know

It looked like this:

that wasn't the exact message but i remember it saying "a problem has occurred" at the top before it went away

yeah that's a "blue screen of death."

run a scan with your antivirus. if it happens again, try to memorize or write down the error code it gives you.

actually i'm pretty sure once you restart your computer it'll pop up a window after start-up displaying all the error information and codes.

at least, it does for me.

Earlier today I accidentally corrupted my hal.dll
anways, I BSOD'd once and after that it never happened again :/
But you should most likely do what Raeyok said.

Get this:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

The download is near the bottom. It will tell you the error associated with the BSoD.

a computer crash with a bluescreen isn't always the death screen. blue screens aren't always that much of a problem, sometimes your computer fixes them by resetting stuff that got changed.
