Author Topic: Is Kompressor going to make Intel compatible with shadows/shaders?  (Read 2417 times)

If he does, he will let tons of PC users be able to see Shadows/Shaders. There's not that much Mac users in the world. Intel is very popular; its in almost every Computer.

30% of people have intel

49% or so of people are mac users

if you have intel you shouldn't be trying to game on it.

also, it's intel integrated graphics on your motherboard

What... even macs use loving intel... Also, mass ignorance much? -And most have a separate Nvidia/ATI GPU anyway...

no lol
they all use intel processors, motherboards, and graphics cards, besides mac pros which have a stuffty graphics card

I don't have Intel, or Mac, I have AMD sempron, but yet I can't see. I think that "Nolight" stuff or whatever.

some guy with a gaming laptop (i7) and a gt 550m graphics card have been having the same problem too.
it seems the problem is laptops. I have a desktop and it works fine

MADE BY INTEL

REBRANDED BY APPLE

Yeah, I've been waiting for months and months for this update, only to not be able to see any of what I was hoping for. I'm sure Kompressor and Hartman could do something for all the intel and mac users.

This quote alone can imply some things.

Selection bias.  People who don't have laptops don't have any problems and are off playing games instead of trying to get help.

The people with laptops are in Badspot's focus, he's going to work on fixing the issues that people with laptops are experiencing. Yes there is that list in the Bugs thread where he goes on about people having a crappy set-up and how it's not a problem - but this isn't the same thing. That's optimization and will be improved.

So don't worry. All these problems everyone is having will most likely be fixed within the next few weeks or so and people on laptops/integrated graphics will be able to see Shadows and Shaders.

Whilst Badspot is right that massive optimisation would be required to run the shaders on intel, it doesn't mean they're impossible. I'm used to having to play games on very low to low settings due to my graphics card, but it's better than nothing.

I don't mind if my laptop can't handle the shadows and shaders. As long as I can still enable them and see them for quick screenshots, I'm fine.
