Author Topic: I not like idea of Rotondo's GameMode.  (Read 1274 times)

I really hate of GameMode, Reason:
1. Every time I change the gamemode kick me out of my own server.
2. Rotondo or Badspot not tell to us about this new idea of gamemode.
3. Rotondo or Badspot did not share feedback with us, who like it or not before release v21.
4.GameMode make me feel unconfortable using this mod. I perfer stay stick with gamemode_Slayer are alway best number one.

I perfer classic add-ons list with groups to save my time. I deiced that I am going remove all Rotondo's gamemode add-ons. I not need it. I plan go back v19 classic bl game, I not care about shader and Environment. I like Environment and shader very much.

Please, Important disscuss of this share feedback for Rotondo's gamemode.

NOTE: I am not hate to Rotondo or Badspot. Just dislike idea gamemode, that it.

Quite some creators of 'gamemodes' for the old version seem to have trouble making their gamemode a real gamemode.
'This is because a gamemode makes you unable to select additional add-ons, which for many gamemodes, is a pain in the ass.
Most gamemodes are sort of supportive, they give the server owner a base to easily host TDM's and such things.
So i can see why some developers see this as a bad thing.

However, i do not think you should just think the old thing was better.
1. The crash/kicking out of own server issue will probably be fixed.
I mean, it is not really good for anything to leave that in, right? ;)
2. They didn't tell us about the gamemode idea, fair enough, maybe it was a good idea to inform us somewhat earlier, but it is not like they make it impossible for the old gamemodes.
3. I am not sure what you want to say with this, but if i understand it correctly, you think that they do not listen to feedback.
This is not true, they do, but they won't just change things back. They can however improve their stuff to make it work better (with other stuff).
4. Gamemode_Slayer will be updated soon for V21, just keep an eye on the modification discussion topic. ;)

The idea of gamemodes working like that is right, i can see why you think like that, but it will surely improve.
They are doing the best they can to listen to feedback and make changes/improvements wherever they can.

Just give them some time.

Pretty sure this update got released early because people wanted it.
Just give them some time, like lord said.

I am so glad you adverted that, the one thing I find extremely irritating is Badspot and Kompresser never give us absolute times of when updates will take into effect.

Right. However, none of them have given up and said "I deiced that I am going remove all Rotondo's gamemode add-ons. I not need it. I plan go back v19 classic bl game, I not care about shader and Environment."

There are no pros to the new gamemode system. It's a horrible pointless piece of crap that makes the game much worse.

Right. However, none of them have given up and said "I deiced that I am going remove all Rotondo's gamemode add-ons. I not need it. I plan go back v19 classic bl game, I not care about shader and Environment."
That would probably be because the makers of the gamemodes need to port them to V21 otherwise nobody will use them and the time they spent on them will become worthless.

Aside from the fact that you can now package and make your own games to distribute to players, maybe so. It gives you the ability to now make singleplayer storylines in a way where players can download it and just start playing. It also allows you to share multiplayer games with other users to download fully, without having to set up the minigame or environment.

For example, I can now make a kind of half life remake and then package it with a minigame of the settings I choose, and the environment that I choose, and then send it out directly to players. Therefore, because the minigame is not owned by the host, he cannot edit it. The environment can, but the upside is that it starts out with the environment of the creators choice.

Basically, it gives the creator of SP/MP maps more control over it, and allows them to distribute it easily and effectively.

That's a huge collection of garbage
They don't have a single add-on that isn't even used and can't play it at all, also making gamemodes is impossible for noobs, posting a bls file somewhere isn't

GameMode make me feel unconfortable using this mod.

gamemode touched him as a child

The idea of the new system is good, but has various problems; what I would like to see done is the following:
  • Return of add-on groups ( bricks, weapons e.t.c. ) This would help a lot of users save time when enabling a lot of addons
  • Allowing the option to add extra add-ons to a gamemode. I know badspot has expressed dislike for this idea, however I have seen that others too feel this would benefit the new system.
  • Reintroduce the add-on favorites in the custom gamemode option. I for one, dislike having to make a whole gamemode when I want to save my add-on configuration.

Is there any function that gets called when the server starts executing add-on files?

Yes, look at the gamemode_rampage and GameMode_Cog's_Click_Challenge are very simple scripts.

This is a mod. Complain to the mod maker.
