Author Topic: The heck is wrong with my harddrive's ability to remove files?  (Read 357 times)

So, I'm a big fan of The Sims 3.

One day, I was playing, then I got a blue screen, my computer recovered but the files were messed up.

basically, the files were apparently a halfway-backup save of what the files were like a week ago.

The disc no longer functions, but there are no visible scratches.

I eventually gave up and tried deleting The Sims 3, since I could no longer play it.
I thought it deleted... then about a month later I purchased a download of the sims 3 from amazon.com...
Found an exe file in the succesfull download.... It was the installer. I ran it, and it started loading. Then it gave me an error message.

I went into Control Panel > Programs > uninstall a program, and found the sims 3. I tried uninstalling it and it gave me an error message.

So, I did a manual computer search and found my old Sims 3 save files. I tried deleting them and got this error message.

Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Oh, and for those wondering, this is on a stuffty compaq presario laptop. Not the custom built I've planned (and will) make. I'll definetally be able to redownload the amazon-sims onto it since it won't have the forgeted up sims 3 files on it, so yeah... but I'm impatient, and I have to wait a month before I can get the parts.

Last error message doesn't appear?

your hard drive is a cigarette :(

Did you manually delete the game's files or did you use the uninstaller.

Because if you manually deleted them then I'm guessing the registry settings and such are still there but the files aren't. So your computer thinks it's installed, but the installer can't find the files it needs to uninstall the game, thus it crashes.

Tried using program files' uninstall a program first. THEN i tried a manual removal.

But um

if I did manually delete it, causing it to forget up like zackin5 said... is there a way to fix it?
