How do i create custom animations?

Hello, i would like to know how to make custom animations for when a guy shoots a gun and other stuff like that, for example instead of that stiff rodent style dead on back animation i want the death animation to be a human-like one, how would i animate a custom death animation? i have milkshape 3d 1.8.0 which can export .DSQ

This belongs in coding help, even though it's modeling, I don't think it belongs here. Maybe you could, this person doesn't seem to want to add anything to the model and I think that was the main problem with the model we have. I'm not sure, though, but all the nodes and joints should be the same so all I'd need is a file and a little code.
