Author Topic: The family XPS Gen 3's death  (Read 460 times)

We kept getting a stop error on logon.

It had asterisks on the top and the bottom of the text, no stop code, and pretty short text.

That's all I remember.

I assumed it was a RAM or motherboard failure but my dad was too ignorant and just abandoned the computer.

any beeps my good sir
nope.avi

Fact: The XPS Gen 3 had a pretty quiet beeper

also the dell people were braindead and originally shipped us with a GTX that browned out the system, but then they gave us a 9800GT

iirc unless the sound card is dead it would beep twice if it's a RAM error

The speaker is attached straight to the motherboard, not the sound card. So either there has to be something wrong with the motherboard or motherboard speaker.
