Author Topic: Vocaloid Would-Be-A-Megathread-But-Not-Enough-On-Topic (Update, 9/4)  (Read 1968 times)

How about you look this stuff up yourself if you're interested?  OP's job is not to spoon-feed everything good about a franchise to everyone else.  Took me ages to weed through all the stuff songs where the singer sounds like they're straining to sing or they're underwater, and it's up to others to find what they like about it all.  That's what makes a megathread a megathread; others are actually involved in it, not just the person who made the thread.
I truthfully could care less about how long it took you to sort through stuff songs, thats not relevant to what I was asking. What I was asking is what Im supposed to do with the information in this topic, watch videos of robots singing? I was confused as to what they actually are, and yeah it kinda is your job to make it clearer what exactly the point of the topic is.

I'm going to assume you didn't read anything in OP and immediately went looking for a tl;dr.

You should assume no one did, I read the first two sections and skimmed the 500 articles on the individual robots or singers or synths or w/e, I still have no idea what the point of the topic is. To listen to them?

Heedicalking, Jerkface, and even Buu understood that this is for general discussion about anything Vocaloid-related.

I don't see what the problem is.

I understand theyre robots that sing, I assume you put text in and they start singing.

But what Im trying to figure out is why. Why do people want to listen to robotic singers instead of real people and I find it even weirder when you say stuff like "The fanbase gave him an awkward personality, a love for ice cream, and patience with MEIKO's constant beatings"

So they all have their own personalities given to them by fans, so does that mean a company like buys the rights to these robots or can everyday people make their own robot songs, if so then how do they have personalities.

Im not into this weaboo stuff so I dont get wtf is going on.

do you find the concept of people liking things you don't like difficult to understand?

In this case, yes. I dont see how theres a fanbase for robotic anime singers using fake robo voices, and how they have "personalities"

Seems creepy as hell IMO

Because they aren't fake voices, every Vocaloid utilizes samples from a real person's voice.  There's a fanbase for this, just like any other franchise.

In fact, all of your posts so far indicate you didn't read the OP because you just don't care.

What I was asking is what Im supposed to do with the information in this topic, watch videos of robots singing?
It's just like any other thread, you discuss the subject.  Duh.

Heedicalking brought up one song in particular in the OP.  Others have read it, you are lazy and don't care.

Because they like the idea of the character, their design, and their voice.  People that provide their voices for a Vocaloid do not necessarily sing themselves.

So they all have their own personalities given to them by fans, so does that mean a company like buys the rights to these robots or can everyday people make their own robot songs, if so then how do they have personalities.
No, it uses the most common business model of "Make things, sell them to people."  Yamaha owns the rights to Vocaloid as a whole, but other companies create them and then sell them to the public.  Anybody with common sense (or who cared) would understand this from the start.  I don't even understand how you managed to relate the fanbase to how Vocaloid as a whole is marketed.

Then why are you posting if you're not into it, or the OP didn't get you into it?  I would understand a post saying "Eh, not my thing," but you're making a full discussion about how you don't find it appealing.

You've been yanking your argument all over the place and don't try to keep it going in the same direction.  In short, you don't care and should stop stuffting all over my thread.

You have been here on the forums longer than me, I have seen you post before, and I know for a fact you aren't an idiot and make full use of your common sense.  I don't know what I did, but it's pretty clear you just don't like me and are making this discussion to annoy the piss out of me.

TL;DR: forget you, read what I said in this post.  I didn't type it all for you to just skim over it.

Actually youre the one whos carried this argument on, all I did was ask for more info in my first post and you got roostery.

Plus highlighting 'dont care' fifty times in your post doesnt automatically make me break the dont care rule if thats what youre aiming for. An admin isnt just going to skim over it and go "wow this guy said he doesnt care a lot, lets just ban him"

Youre so melo

Actually youre the one whos carried this argument on, all I did was ask for more info in my first post and you got roostery.
Wrong.  I answered your question the first time, and then you replied with the same exact question.  You are the one dragging it out by ignoring the main points in my posts.

I told you multiple times, this thread is for general discussion about Vocaloid, whether it be about the characters, songs, or the software itself.

For Christ's sake, look for the answer to your question rather than possible flaws in reasoning in every post.

And no, me underlining each time I say you don't care won't prove it, but if you pay attention to what I said, you'll see that I proved that you don't.

Alright, I would like to give this topic ONE LAST CHANCE, maybe more people online will lead to genuine posts.

Allow me to introduce you all to Circus Monster, a song from the POV of a Vocaloid that's being exploited for money.  Just about every 'loid has sung this so far, but only a handful are actually good.  It was originally sung in English by Luka, and every 'loid without an English voicebank sings it in Japanese.  It's still hauntingly beautiful between languages.

The better versions of this song include Gumi's, Oliver's (English), Aoki Lapis's, and, by far the best version, CUL's.
