Author Topic: Does CPU also affect speed of Blockland?  (Read 519 times)

I want to save up for a new video card. I was wondering, if I keep my crappy AMD 630 processor, but get like a new $150 graphics card, will shaders/shadows work good? Or do I need a fine balance between the CPU and GPU?

You have an Athlon II X4 630, so the bottleneck will begin around the 7870 range or the 560 Ti
your processor is fine for blockland and most modern games

Yes, I am able to play all modern games, but at medium-ish settings, and Blockland on low. I want to start making movies for Blockland, but with shaders turned off to low, shadows look like huge blocks of black poop on the ground. So the best graphic cards to get should be around the 7870 range? Hmm, ok. Would you recommend AMD, Intel or something else?

I meant your PROCESSOR can handle most modern games. Your video card isn't your processor.
TBH I would recommend a 6850 or similar, but you will probably need to upgrade your power supply as well, considering most of the time people have stuffty power supplies
if you can open the side panel of your computer and look around for a "Max Watts" or similar on the power supply

Try a 6670 for a budge gaming card (also if you play at a res around 1366x768). You can also try an XFX 7750 which doesnt use that much power
