Ran out of battery when doing a dos boot scan, Windows resumed in dos

So I tried to reboot and windows is dead. It said that windows was unable to start so it switched to something that looks like XP. It is currently attempting to repair windows. I could use recovery to restore the OS but I'm scared that I'll lose my other data.

Avast did a boot scan in dos, the computer ran out of battery, then windows resumed with a black screen and a white blinking underscore at the top (which I'm thinking is dos). After that it switched to the recovery feature.
Everything is fixed now, windows managed to start.
