I convinced my father to buy it the other day, and we had a movie night with it.
I really really enjoyed it.
I thought the story was decent (despite a few plotholes [Does no one really care what others are doing on this ship?]), the acting was alright and the special effects were very nice.
It fit into the Alien universe nicely and it made a great answer to how the first movie begins.
For anyone not aware, the horseshoe shaped ship in Prometheus is the one they find in Alien, after ignoring the warning message set out in Prometheus.
The alien eggs and such are all in the long corridor parts of the ship that have walls looking like rib cages.
And the massive forgetin' seat that looks like a cannon used to pilot the ship is also seen in Alien.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was too gorey at all. The bone breaking scene was nothing, really. You can see creepier/more disgusting bone-break scenes if you watch Scary Movie 1.
The Caesarean scene was also rather tame, I thought. You see a little bit of cutting of the skin, and then after that it's just a robotic claw pulling out a squid. There's very little gore in that scene, beyond the splashing of Iodine and a little bit of blood.
