Stop.

Anyways, OP is your XP updated to service pack 2 or higher (3 is best:))
You might also have to tinker with some compatibility settings too.
Though generally, if you have up-to-date service packs for XP, programs that require that usually work on their own.

Your very last resort option however, is to re-do Windows.

I remember when I first tried running Homeworld 2 (a pc game from 2005) on my 64x Windows 7.
I actually had to double check to make sure I had XP service packs 2 and 3 and then set homeworld2.exe to run from SP2 or 3 in the programs comp. settings.

did you try

restarting your computer?
Are you serious?
Yes i did

An update to Chrome magically broke compatibility with XP SP2, seeing as my server can't use it, and my virtual machines can't use it.
Seeing as you've gone through the basic troubleshooting steps (reinstalling, uninstalling recently installed programs, restarting windows,) you might want to use another browser for the time being (personally recommend Opera for being better than chrome at loving everything,) or upgrade to SP3. (provided you're not using SP3)

Turning things on and off helps a lot of the time.
