Author Topic: Real Time Strategy (RTS) Games and my biggest dislike  (Read 1395 times)

Command and conquer is a Tanks do all game.
Halo Wars tried to balance it, but failed.
Supreme Commander I and II are both far too large to be realistic.
LOTR:BFMEII is basically the same as C&C but with a better unit system.
RoN:T&P is an amazing game
RoL is equally amazing, though not as realistic as some like.
AoE and its derivatives are good, though a little slow and time consuming.
not sure about Starcraft.

not sure about Starcraft.
Its like rock paper scissors meets yugio card game and the game of jeopardy.
Bascially whoever can rush first while having the best combo wins.

warcraft 3 is good.
I had many good memories of custom games on war3. Sadly I depise the Dota crowd to this day, I know Blizzard dry to prevent the thousands of Dota games on Starcraft 2, but in the end they killed off custom maps and made the game more for the elite vanilla hardcore ladder scene.

Age of Empires III, try that for size
I loved that game when I was younger. Russia was the best, spam Strelets, never lose.

I remember making the best defenses, and always sending attack in strategic waves. Where first would be the ground soldiers, for example if I was an orc, the first wave would be grunts and trolls. the second wave is reinforcement ground with healers, then heavy units, and lastly i would send in siege. I'd leave a fair amount of units at the base in case the attacks failed, so I have units to support the towers. It's been a while sense I've played though.
