Author Topic: is there a way to disconnect another user from a particular router?  (Read 824 times)

my uncle's being stupid. he's trying to install at least ten apps on an iPad at one time. it's two rows, and a few on the rows before and after
I can not do a loving thing. I had to use 3G on my phone to make this topic
so I need a way to disconnect him from it by using another computer. if I need to, I can use a computer connected to the router by a cord

Not that I know of, but try this:

1.) Shut down Internet
2.) Change password
3.) Reboot Internet
4.) ???
5.) Profit

'Nuff said.

It probably depends on the router. But on mine I can set it up to block certain IP's.

Poke about the settings pages and check if there is anything related to "Access Restriction" or the like.

I don't want to make everyone else stop using it, and to avoid that I'd have to go and tell everyone the new password, which would make it clear that I did something
What router do you have?

Then why don't you just tell your parents that your uncle is hogging the network?

Reset the router, that should cancel all of his downloads. If that doesn't work try turning off the router for 20 seconds.

edit: nevermind he stopped I guess. dunno why. thanks all who helped
now I'll know what to do if he starts being dumb again

if I was at my mom's or my dad's, I'd do that, but I'm at my grandmother's house, and nobody else here even begins to understand networking, so they wouldn't see any problem

I already found out how to block a specifc user, all I need now is to find out which one he is
