Author Topic: Badspot uses Red Hat Linux to Host  (Read 425 times)

Badspot uses Red hat Linux to host Blockland right? Should he upgrade to Ubuntu or is it basically the same thing?

Which would be better to host a website, Linux, such as Red Hat or ubuntu? I have Windows Small Business Server 2011, is that okay? Is linux more reliable or something (besides being able to stay up longer)?

I hear Linux is just the industry standard for hosting in general, because it's just better than windows for everything except compatibility. I don't know for myself though, so don't quote me on that.

The choice between Windows and Linux is completely based on what web stack you want to run, I doubt either of them is more stable or will stay up longer. BS probably uses CentOS, a distribution based on Red Hat. CentOS is a pretty "standard" server OS, moving to Ubuntu wouldn't be an upgrade.

I have no idea how to make a website, I have some background on how to, I am using Microsoft expression web and using templates and then editing them but I cant edit everything for some reason, its being weird. Do you know any other good programs?
