UI help?

Story:
I was messing around at BL forums searching for add ons, i found a UI edits dump topic, i tried to put some of them in my BL folder (Base/client/ui), but when i started BL it was default UIs.

Is there any way with the V21 i can change the UIs?

Do this or look around for some mods. There are two or three you can use.

There's dispute of which method is better, however. It's really a lesser of two evils thing.

User Content Alpha can put more stress on your hard drive.
Badspot has advised against the read-only method.
Custom UI Mod causes GUI to take 16x longer to create.
GUI Replacer has some pretty big bugs as far as I know.

They'll all do their job to at least some extent, except GUI Replacer apparently just doesn't work properly anymore?

No, you can. There's just no 100% "good" way to do it. Every method available has some downside either now or in the future.


Also, can we please not argue over read-only/UCA in this thread? Gets old. Hasn't started yet, just wanted to go ahead and ask everyone nicely.

Advantages of read-only:
-works

Disadvantages of read-only:
-if there is an update, the launcher cannot update that file


Advantages of UCA:
-works

Disadvantages of UCA:
-rewrites files every time you start blockland, your hdd/ssd will hate it
-if the launcher updates a file UCA updates it again resulting in the update being lost
-have to create a bunch of folders

read-only admittedly at this point is probably a better idea overall if you aren't a stubborn turtle-lover

if badspot ever does add a feature that, quoting him, makes the launcher "tell you to forget off", you'd have to go with an alternative of course
