He told people he tricked someone into downloading harmful software, in which trickering/conning etc whether in blockland, forums or anywhere on the Internet, is a bannable offense. I'm sure it's a written rule somewhere, but I've never seen it.

There is no rule against it. To not bump old topics before they reach the "too old to post" mark were created by random people on the forum who do not make the rules.

i don't exactly recall the "post pony content in the megathread only!!!" rule being made by badspot himself either.

besides, i've seen multiple people getting banned for bumping old topics for no good reason.

As long as the bump adds new content, I see no issue with it. If it doesn't, regardless of age, it's annoying.
Suggestions and Requests gets a free pass, since a contentless bump could actually be helpful, there.
