It doesn't have to show direct gameplay.  That'd be too literal.  It just has to show the feature points of the game, i.e. nanosuit, bow and arrow, aliens, etc.
thats a reasonable opinion on trailers
I am pretty sure you're the only person ever who thinks that's an issue
there are gameplay trailers
better yet, you can download the beta yourself and play it (I think that's still an option?)
I doubt some non-gameplay trailers are going to ruin the game for you, or whatever your problem is
the problem i have is that the trailer is built entirely to create hype while at the same time not showing the gameplay mechanics people should be getting "hyped" over

look up the gameplay...?

No, beta is closed.  It'd be a demo if it was still open, and demos are like nonexistent for big name titles.
oh
well, there are still all the videos to watch about it

why does it have to be gameplay trailers?
can't it be an exhibition of the capabilities of a game's engine?

I'm sure the developers and publishers already know that you can easily find gameplay elsewhere

you can exhibit the exact same capabilities by playing the game and filming it and calling it a trailer

you must have an abnormally large richard stuck up your ass
it's a fun trailer, get over it

regular gameplay isn't always the best way to show off an engine

regular gameplay isn't always the best way to show off an engine
but that is the entire point of the engine

but that is the entire point of the engine
Unreal?
I'm sure there are several other engines designed for things other than games, as well

"GAAAH!!!  the commercial features no actual real gameplay footage of a person playing!  no one will buy this, EA marketing is a bunch of morons!"

(crysis 3 continues to generate massive profits)

i'm not saying it won't generate revenue
i'm just saying i personally dislike the trailer

if you want to advertise your engine make a tech demo

trying to sell an engine =/= trying to sell a game because you buy the engine because of its strengths and limits while you buy a game for the gameplay

"NOTHING BEATS REAL SUGAR AND REAL FRUIT!"

That was lame. It use to be that I at least respected Crysis for still trying to be serious on the second game. Now the third one is going to push that off the cliff as well. Looking forward to the kickass vehicle physics though.

Wasn't the second game completely unrelated to the events of the first game and Warhead
