Author Topic: Ya wana be british?  (Read 2325 times)

Let's just forget the countless improvments and technologies and advancments to science, medicine, culture, religion, geography and much more that our countries have done.

And naturally, let's forget everything other countries have done in those areas (because the only modern civilized people live in england AMIRIGHT LOL)

And apologies for putting in some serious discussion in a topic that turned to immature arguing.

"Immature arguing" =/= jokes made in fun

I highly doubt most of the people in this topic genuinely hate other countries.
We dunked the british in boiling tar and threw chicken feathers on them.
doyouevenlift
Fought for the freedom of white Anglos to pillage and enslave those pesky non-Europeans.
British people are the bestest.
^I mean look at that

Do you really think they're being serious?

Take off the serious spectacles, professor. On a forum as completely far from serious as possible, they're really not needed.

Also, the above page of posts pretty much fits my point that people will always try to slander each other's nationalities based upon their historical past.
Anything that doesn't seem humane anymore is suddenly a great issue.

I never once intended to say that England (especially in a topic talking about Britain) was the only country who provided advancements in those areas.
I used the terms "ours" and "each other", because I know that this is forum full of people from numerous different nations, and that anyone else reading it should be able to pick up that I'm talking about all of us.
I'm not naive enough to believe that only a single country is the best in the world at everything.

It's much easier for me to say "our" and "each other" than to list every single country around.
And I apologise that my post there was misinterpreted.
I can see why you would assume that "our" was in reference to me talking about myself and other British/English people. I'm sorry for the confusion there.

From my point of view, the argument about who has done the most horrible things to other races/cultures didn't seem like it was coming from an entirely harmless/joyous place.
Simply adding on phrases like "doyouevenlift" doesn't counteract the fact that your argument (or joke) is trying to come from a serious place.

Just of note, Clone's post is entirely possible to take as serious. The bolded part of his quote is in a sarcastic manner. He might be entirely joking (which I expect to a degree), or he might be dead serious.
And Tails post isn't part of the argument at all. I know that he's making a joke, and showing national pride.
I have nothing wrong with that.

And I know for a fact that it's possible to argue about each others countries without truly hating them.
I've taken part in arguments on these forums on the same subject before. I never thought that we all seriously hated each other then either.
Please don't take my opinion that one part of a discussion is something I'd rather not be involved in to mean that I don't want it to happen at all.

This'll just be an awkward brown townytical argument over one sentence I posted. I'd rather leave it be.
And again apologise if I upset or offended you over it.

But I will restate my previous point, that I will start a serious discussion if I so choose to do.
If you would rather pass over it and join in to another discussion, then please do.
I will post how I wish to, and if others wish to discuss with me on those, then they may.
But ultimately, I don't post for other people. I post for myself. If my post fits the rules and is on-topic (which it is), then I shall post it.
I'm not stopping anyone else from posting what they want to, and I would prefer if you didn't have a go at me for posting what I want to.

And finally;
Take off the serious spectacles, professor. On a forum as completely far from serious as possible, they're really not needed.
Not wanting to repeat myself, I'll just say this.
This is the Off-Topic board of the Blockland Forums.
If people want to post humorously, they can do.
If people want to post immaturely, they can do.
If people want to post inquisitively, they can do.
If people want to post seriously, they can do.

In a topic that can be taken seriously or humorously, I'll chose how I post.

Don't forget the poor natives you massacred! And all of your other great deeds!
