Author Topic: Intel HD Graphics/GMA does (and will) not support Blockland shaders.  (Read 3833 times)

I can't believe I have to bring this up, even if it's been pushed around many times.

Intel processors by themselves are only meant for 2D and simple 3D operations. They are not meant for shader operations.

Well this sucks balls.
I have all this processing power and graphics card can't do stuff with low shadows.
I hope badspot fixes this soon >:(

Intel has advanced their CPU technology far (and so has AMD), but the processor-integrated GPUs are only meant for simple operations.

It's your fault for not checking if the laptop or small form-factor desktop you bought had a discrete GPU or not.

If you have a desktop that actually has a vacant PCI Express slot, you're at luck. Just put in a newer graphics card and swap the PSU out (if your current PSU can't handle a new graphics card).

intel 4000 on the newer, 3rd generation i3s, i5s and i7s can run games like bf3 with really good fps on lowest settings

My Intel GMA actually does support shaders, but only on minimum.

Mine does too, but do you even notice them?

Yeah they look nice but it lags too much for DMs.

hmmm i believe that quote is mine.

Badspot doesnt work for Intel or make their chips, there is nothing he can do. The Pixel shadows/shaders Blockland supports probably requires a high shader model or something...Intel needs to do something about it.

That has nothing to do with this issue.

Yes it does. If Badspot worked for Intel, he would design their chips to run higher computer shader operations.

Um, no? Intel doesn't even make real graphic cards, they are part of the processors.

Badspot worked for Ati and Nvidia? Sweet.

God damn it was a loving brown townogy. Im saying the only way Badspot can fix compatibility with Intel chips is if he was working with them (because I doubt Intel would invest time and money trying to make their chips compatible with a random game from a random person). The Intel GMA/HD accelerators are just meant to be able to display 2D/3D desktops so yeah you are correct but the new Intel HD 4000 can run BF3 at good frame rates.

It's not a compatibility issue; many Intel chips can indeed run shaders. It's just an issue of how powerful they are.
