Author Topic: Upgrading my graphics card, will this one work?  (Read 483 times)

So I'm looking in to upgrading my graphics card, but there's one problem. I've got a Gateway SX2800-01, IE a really small PC. I've found this video card on Amazon that looks like it will do the job, but I've got two concerns. One, the power consumption. Will the stock (220W) PSU on this system support it? And two, will the card even fit in the case? It comes with a low profile mounting bracket as far as I know, but I'm not sure, I've never upgraded my PC before.

The card:

you are going to run into some extreme bottlenecking tbh

What from?

Maybe, with HUGE luck but even if it runs you'll get a lot of crashes ad restarts, though.

The tiny PSU.
My old dell from 2004 had more power than that.

Well what wattage would support it? The stock one is like 220.

i would recommend upgrading the rest of the system first, as the ram is extremely slow (800 mhz while modern computers almost always have above 1333, i have 1600), the cpu will bottleneck the entire system, and upgrading might be hard in the future due to case size, and the psu has very low wattage, which is dangerous to other components

you might as well build a new system from scratch

at least 300 but I recommend 350w.

Well thanks for the input, everyone.
