Would you severely hurt/kill someone if your family / friends were threatened?

I thought this would be interesting to discuss with the forum...

Anyways, so here's what happens, you family / friends / loved ones have a gun to there head, (ignore things that would be logical for the gunner to do). Would you ask for yourself to be replaced? Would you attempt to hurt the gunner? Would you kill the gunner if they did shoot / were about ready too?

Normally, I doubt that I'd be able to kill/hurt someone, I'd be freaking out. But if I was in this situation, my first thought would be to put myself in my family/friends position. But most likely I'd try to cripple the gunner.
