This is a bit of a niche thing to ask here, so I won't be surprised if I don't get m/any responses but here we go

Can anyone recommend a semi reasonably projector (HDMI required) for under or around $500?

I'm going to wallmount a projector pointing up at my ceiling so I can use my PC while laying in bed. I'd prefer an LED or DLP one, but not required. Higher resolution is obviously preferred.

Looking at this one so far

i feel like it'd be easier to just put a tv up there (i have seen this done before and it is glorious) but a friend of mine just bought this and it's pretty good

Thanks for the link

I don't know if it'd be easier or not, you'd need a pretty good mount to get it up there, and i'd probably constantly live in fear it'll fall on me. might be cheaper though. I just prefer having the versatility of a projector.

Before this I was actually going to design a sliding rail system for my PC screens where I could slide my monitors directly over from my desk to my bed and just angle them down, but given I have the money to burn I thought I should just buy a projector

i'd probably constantly live in fear it'll fall on me.
I had the same thoughts too after I read Ragna's post, I wouldn't want a big tv to suddenly smash me on the head.

You could bolt everything to your ceiling and put the TV on the ground. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it falling on you.

I also need to figure out a way to mount a keyboard and mouse in a use-able position while i'm in a lying down position if anyone has any ideas

i'll have to use a trackpad or trackball instead of a regular mouse due to gravity, but the keyboard won't be an issue aside from building a mount
