Double jump?

How would I check if a playertype jumps, and if it does allow it to jump twice based on energy left?(basicly how would i modify and check the players energy when it presses jump)

Last I checked double jump was not just TF2 but alot more games before it.

On topic- That would be cool but no idea how you could do it.
