Author Topic: Who's in the UK or US?  (Read 398 times)

On vacation in London, and after being disappointed that Blockland's URL didn't change from blockland.us to blockland.uk, I was wondering how many people were in the UK vs in the US.  I also included US territories in the poll, because I don't know UK territories.

There is no poll, you should add one.

Just because you went to a different country doesn't mean that every website will change it's URL...

Hurpa stuff, I was in the middle of making it.

But I was hoping Blockland's would change because Google's did.

you can't honestly expect Badspot to get a .uk domain.

But Google is a big international company who spend a lot of money (But apparantely not tax) so that they can host multiple websites fit to each location.

The only difference between Google.co.uk and Google.com is that .co.uk offers a refined search that offers search results from the UK only (or atleast it did, I can't see it on there at the moment).

Anyway, I'm in (not so) sunny England! The South West, to be precise.
I hope you're enjoying London and all it has to offer!

What sites are you going to see?

UK Territories;
Akrotiri and Dhekelia
Anguilla
Bermuda
British Antarctic Territory
British Indian Ocean Territory
British Virgin Islands
Cayman Islands
Falkland Islands
Gibraltar
Montserrat
Pitcairn Islands
Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
Turks and Caicos Islands

Then there's the Channel Islands, which are Crown Dependencies and not technically part of the UK.
And then you have the Commonwealth Realms, which most definitely are not part of the UK, but they pay Allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II.
That's countries like Canada, Australia, India and so on...

I wouldn't bother listing UK territories, there's a lot :P

If you want it in the poll, put something like;
UK (British Isles)
UK (Non-British Isles)

For clarification, the British Isles includes England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland (but only Northern Ireland is part of the UK).
It also includes all the smaller islands around Great Britain, like the Channel Islands, the Isle of Mann and all the ones in the sea north of Scotland.
