Author Topic: Community-Voting Colorset v2 (Democracy woo)  (Read 2524 times)

The Community Colorset:
Alright, so I'm kind of sick of having several different colorsets floating around so I decided to make one and now, you guys can vote on which colors to change. The point is that as many people as possible can be happy with the colorset.
Here's how v1 looks:
Here's how it works:
- You don't like color Alternates 3 (as an example)
- Post a request to change Alternates 3 into a slightly different color, with the color you want as a block IN YOUR POST.
- I will put up a poll for a decision between the original color and the challenging color (or maybe even a third color)
- The color that gets the most votes after a while is set as the new color
- Someone else suggests a better color for, say, Browns 5, and then we rinse and repeat.
- After a while, we release as the new version.

A few things:
- Replace similar colors so builds don't get broken.
- If you really don't want your build to change colors, keep the current version. I will have all versions available for everyone.
- Don't be handicapped with your color suggestions. They will be ignored.
- Feel free to edit the colorset on your own, although it won't be made the official version.

Hopefully this is a success :)

This is going to sound harsh, but you should probably start out with a better colorset.

The first row is too bright. The second row also has a lot of bright colors and that "yellow" is horrid. The 3rd and 4th row are just really pale and dark versions of the first row. The transparents is just a transparent version. The brown is orangy and doesn't have many dark browns except the last one which is super dark.

I'm going to make the normal colors less bright, and I'll look for a better Alternate Yellow. I'm working on the browns too. As far as the pales and darks go, I don't really know any better colors to put there, so if you have better colors, give them to me as RGB triplets. Thanks for your feedback.

All brown is orangy. (There's no way around this, It's literally just Orange and Black. Unless you can find a color that actually makes it look less "orangy".)

I'm going to go ahead and tell you that when making colors with rgb format there is no orange value and there is no black value. I'm also going to tell you that you almost all of the browns in the popular Blockland colorsets are not orange at all.

Some browns off of wikipedia searching "Shades of Brown:"
█ - Brown Nose (102, 68, 35)
█ - Sepia (112, 66, 20)
█ - Coffee (111, 78, 55)
█ - Café Noir (75, 54, 33)
█ - Umber (99, 81, 71)

Should've started with something like Trueno's, I know there's people out there that hate his colorset but state no reason, pisses me off to be honest since there's nothing wrong with it.

neon unrealistic colors that no one really use, pastel-like browns, generally too bright over all, the transparents are just a transparent copy of the first row(this bugs me a lot)

Working on a new version with duller colors and better browns!
EDIT: Finished! Colors are slightly duller (some colors were changed more than others: I kept a few bright ones for lava, lights, etc.) and there was a complete re-do of the browns.

here's an idea:

Why don't you make a website that has some fancy javascript or php code that allows colorsets to be made
as well as a client mod that allows you to browse colorsets and download them directly from the website (using tcp objects and GET)

You can also use this method to post colorsets from blockland to the website

Edit:

You could add a feature for a few colorsets people could edit and modify
