Author Topic: UltraDM - Blocklands New Deathmatching Experience  (Read 2902 times)

UltraDM is a new way of playing Blockland death matches. Out of much observing it is obvious that death matches and team death matches in Blockland can get very, very repetitive and lack good, fast gameplay. That is what UltraDM is here to fix. UltraDM was created by Unvanquished and Aplem in an effort to make death matching more enjoyable in Blockland. UltraDM tries to make gameplay focus on a fast, unique and fun experience.



Features of UltraDM :
- Map Rotation (Currently 3 Maps)
- Weapon Purchasing System
- Fast Gameplay
- Sprinting and Healing Playertype



Now the whole build is set inside of a darker theme, the pictures were lightened up for some better viewing of the builds. We also left out a-lot of images of the rest of the builds themselves. For that you will have to join and experience it yourself. Aplem is hard at work on a gamemode for this whole thing. The gamemode will make it a-lot more simple to setup and a-lot more simple to run. It will also verify the official UltraDM in case somebody decides to try and steal the build and host it for themselves.

UltraDM is also a 24/7 dedicated server ran off of RTB Dedicated Hosting Service. We might actually be putting up a second server of this build because we are only allowing 20 players in the server at once to play this. You may ask why? Mainly because we think that having 99 slots open on a server is just pointless and overkill unless you are hosting the New Years Party, BlockoCon or something else big. Plus who would want a swarm of 99 players just going all out and killing eachother? 20 if appropriate and fair for these builds.

Currently we have only three maps those maps are :
- The Tower
- The Garage
- The City

Each of these maps are unique in their own ways. Just check out some little teaser images :








Now as some of you may assume, the tower may look like it was stolen. We can promise you that it was built by our own hands and there are several differences between this and Muffin Mix's or whoever else's build was what.

To me this looks just like any other DM. You never described just how you are going to fix the "lack good, fast gameplay", and in the op you even stated there's a purchasing system. From my personal experience weapon purchasing systems often slows down the experience by having you choose weapons after every death.

Well I also stated it is very repetitive. This has multiple maps that change after each round. What I meant by "fast gameplay" is that usually the maps are way to big that you can never find anyone and so it goes by very slowly. The weapon choosing system you don't usually see in death matches, and you actually hardly see death matches on Blockland. All it is usually is just team death matches which are the easiest to make.

No it is not. The guns have relatively low point cost and reset every round. I was thinking of the new people who joined when I was making this.

I am sorry are names not allowed then when it comes to creating a server? In that case why not just call this a Family RP or Grapple Knife TDM.

Sounds to generic. Plus I need something to call the gamemode.

Maybe a skyscraper map,
where people fight and also see people fighting in the street level.

it's pretty much your typical generic deathmatch, only with a pointless shop system and rotating maps.

It's nice that the shop system is done similar to Counter-Strike. Death-matches which you have to climb a boring progression of using boring weapons really don't show any appeal.
