Author Topic: Steam not connecting to internet even though it's working just fine  (Read 1023 times)

I decided this needed another topic since it's off-topic to my other one

Anyways, starting today, I tried to go on Steam but it shows this;

whenever I click "Retry Connection", it shows the log-in page

now, having like 145 objects detected (they were mainly PUP's) on Malwarebytes then removing all of them, i felt kinda paranoid and decided not to put in any log-in information

i retried and retried but the same thing happens

i tried to reboot then try to log-in, but even that didn't work

is anybody else getting this problem?

Oh, and also, while in offline mode it showed that my friends were online but when I opened up my friends list it said it wasn't available in offline mode

sheesh

What stuff do you have installed

Have you tried the old deleting ClientRegistry.blob trick?

If that doesn't work you can try reinstalling Steam by going to it's directory and deleting everything except steam.exe and the steamapps folder (To keep your games), then just run Steam and it'll download and reinstall itself.

This happens to me a lot, idk why, but it does.

the clientregistry.blob trick doesnt work.

i'm guessing you're saying this?

Plot Twist; EA bought Steam

This happened to me when I used bitdefender as an antivirus, when I turned off its firewall steam managed to connect.

the thing is that I downloaded Malwarebytes last night, I don't think Malwarebytes would block steam though

I had bitdefender set up to not block it but it still did. Since then I transferred back to AVG and no problems

Okay it's.. Somehow fixed itself after a while, it suddenly updated and now it's working fine.

Locking.
