I would go Lenovo if I bought a gaming laptop again. I went Alienware and had some problems with them, and when my hard drive got a crashed drive head I called for support and had to speak to a Russian guy named Georgie who could barely understand me, and after three hours, he finally said he couldn't do anything and hung up. I had to talk to another person the next day, who hooked me up with a new hard drive, but half the size of the original I had.

The hardware is there, but their products are overpriced. Asus makes some pretty nice gaming laptops, I'd check that out.

You're paying for the brand. Yes it may be more expensive because it has some glowy lights and a logo slapped on it, but you know what you're going to get with it. You're getting pretty good hardware for playing games and doing whatever else you need. It's the same with TVs and cars and stuff, you can get a cheaper car, or you can fork over some extra cash on a good brand car and get something you know you'll like and know will last/run well.

There's nothing really wrong with alienware, they make a set of gaming computers and make money from it. It's not like you'd expect a company to try to sell you an expensive computer full of expensive parts and only charge part cost on it. They want to make money, too.

to be honest, you're better off building a gaming rig because it's cheaper. plus, why pay so much money for an alienware when you could build a damn nice gaming pc.

price depends, if you're making a strict gaming rig i'd probably say 600 to 1500

normal pc probably 100 to 500

There's colleges/universities that require you to have a powerful laptop, those ones that people consider for gaming and are priced in the thousands.

Yes, but personally I would recommend building a computer. But Alienwares are actually really good. I bought the alienware x51, their cheapest version, on sale for 499. I can run most of my games on max or close to max, so don't hesitate buying one.
