Can I fix my hair clippers?

My dad left a few days ago and is not coming back for another week, and took his clippers with him. Fortunately, he left me with his old ones that are probably broken.

After some research, I decided to recharge the NiCd battery inside, but now I have two problems. I don't have the equipment needed (wire welder) and the battery is the size of a normal AA battery.

Is there any way I could do this?

Wire welder? As in, soldering iron?

And this isn't the most informative post. Why do you need the clippers, and could you explain the wiring/setup a bit more clearly?
