So me and my friend are trying to lan right now. We're connected by a very good ethernet cord. I pressed lan when I started the server, and when my friend searches for lan games it doesn't show up. How might I fix this?

Can you run other internet/LAN games and have your friend join them?

I can't run internet games, but we have run lan games before.

Remove the straightthrough and replace it with a crossover.

Or learn2networksetup.

I'm sorry, I don't know those terms. I just know you have to connect via ethernet cord.

Dude connecting 2 computers directly with an ethernet cord will NOT work unless it is an ethernet crossover cable. http://ftp.ipsyn.net/pub/mirrors/cabling/T568B_scheme_opt.jpg
