Author Topic: Baby bunnies.  (Read 2963 times)

So I take care of my neighbors animals (rabbits, goats, chickens, guinea hens, and cat) when they go on vacation. They informed me today that one of their rabbits has had babies. But she said a lot of them end up being taken out of the nest and dying. She told me if any of them die I just throw them away. Im a little freaked because I really rather not see a dead baby rabbit then pick it up and throw it away. Im doing a little research and Im scared because they are in the garage and it now is starting to get pretty chilly and the garage door is incredibly loud when it opens. I dont really know what I should do if I see a baby out of the nest. Do I put it back in the nest? Let it die or whatever? Take it home? I would put them in my room but I dont have a cage, or the right feeding stuff. Im really not looking forward to the next 6 days. Any advice or experience that could help me would be good right now

put it in the nest with the others if you want to, since they'd probably be huddled up and warmer

eat them
make a delicious rabbit stew

I just dotn want to see this

but dead

So yesterday I found there were 4 babies all huddled together.

I go back today all 4 are living but 2 are outside the nest. Their skin is pink (good) and they look like they have full bellies (good) but when I pinch their skin a little it stays up like they're dehydrated and Im really nervous. So I called my neighbor (the person whos pets im taking care of) and they told me they will probably die. I put the babies back into the nest and if they still seem dehydated tomorrow Im going to try to force feed them (holding the mom on her back and putting the babies on her nipples)

:I

I hope the babies all stay alive, best of luck. It's a sad situation.

so yea!
update:

All 4 are still alive and I no longer have to take care of them. Their condition didnt seem to be getting better until I started force feeding them. They grew a lot in the past week and now their eyes are open!
:D

Yay!

Now help me with my puppy, anytime he's sleeping he starts twitching.

And it's not even shivering.

no theyre mine
Let me fix this.

No they're the neighbor's rabbits.
