Author Topic: Why does my town have FlyOver on apple maps?  (Read 1564 times)

When I first opened maps in iOS 7, I saw my house was in 3D to my surprise. I swiped around a bit and I now know my entire town is in 3D.

Isn't FlyOver just for massive cities? Did somebody come to our town and ask Apple to flyoverify it? Seriously, i'm so confused.

Maybe medium is big enough for your town

Wait what 3D maps what is this

what's the total population

If Apple Maps is anything like Google Earth, the 3D models of building are done by users, not Apple. All it takes to have your town modeled is somebody living there determined enough to model and submit it.

But here's the thing: it looks really computer generated, chunky, glitchy, and sometimes entirely forgeted up.

But the houses look good (you can still tell they're not made by hand though)

...So basically just google earth?

yeah pretty much like 90% of houses on google maps are 3d somehow
