Author Topic: A good gaming laptop?  (Read 2704 times)

Alright, I am sorry for asking a tech-related question again.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a good gaming laptop that can run Blockland with at least medium shaders and under 2000 dollars?

I currently have this in mind: http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Battalion_101_Ultra_Thin_M1771-2

Also, don't ask why I am not building a computer.

First off, why would you want to use blockland as a benchmark? it's not as graphically advanced as many other games. You might want to play something other than blockland eventually, so I suggest having a look at these if you want a decent gaming laptop, most of them are within your price range as well.

You have these choices

  • A Gaming Laptop that doesn't cost a stuffload of money
  • A Gaming Laptop that doesn't try to simulate the lowest layer of hell after you play with it
  • A Gaming Laptop that can run games on maxinum efficency that were made after 2010

You can only pick 2. This is why i stick with desktop PC's.

Why a laptop anyways
you expect to like bring it to mcdonalds to play cod or some stuff?

So basically I was going to buy a desktop PC but I realized my room isn't big enough.

Thats why I am looking for a good gaming/desktop replacement laptop.

I usually go with Alienware. They are a bit pricey, yea, but I don't like to hassle with building computers and I like to have a more mobile computer

Saving up for a m14x atm, the specs look a bit similar to yours if you upgrade the gpu, and its somewhere around 400 bucks less? I might need correcting on that tho if it's got some hidden advantage I'm not seeing

EDIT: RAM is a bit lower on the alienware, but its like 8 GB.

mini itx rig?

A Dell Vostro 3460 Is cheap and can run Blockland on max shaders with around 40-50 fps, Just Cause 2, Saints Row The third, GTA IV with a good framerate.

I recommend it.

Theres also some variations that changes the processor, GPU, etc.

I don't know if its available to USA.

I've got an Asus G75VW (edit - Oh, Best Buy is sold out, so here's an Amazon link) - got it on sale and refurbished so it was relatively cheap and it's worked quite well for me. Only problem I've had is that it came with McAfee, which caused occasional stuttering for whatever reason, but that went away as soon as I uninstalled it.
