Is there any reason clicking links outside of my browser do nothing?

I've tried a multitude of different browsers, uninstalling and reinstalling all of them. All to the same effect. Clicking any links from Skype, Steam or any game won't open in any browsers. Nothing happens when clicking them. Does anyone have any idea what I could do about that?

Yes, and I've tried setting different browsers to default too

1. spam click them and tell us results - if nothing happens do #2

2. also go into task manager go into processes and tell us if theres anything in there like Chrome.exe/whatever browser. tell us if there is one. Also don't mistake it for Explorer.exe
