Author Topic: Battle.net Account  (Read 987 times)

So, I don't play WoW, Starcraft, Hearthstone, or Diablo III, yet for some reason I have an old set of e-mails from me registering for the account, and just today I got an e-mail saying my account was locked because of "an unusual change in its access pattern". Anyone have any idea what the stuff is going on? Should I even bother unlocking it, or should I be running scans up the ass to find what out what the hell is going on?

So many questions.

i get chinese battle.net emails sometimes, not really important

I got that awhile too. I guess they lock you out if you don't play in awhile. I haven't unlocked mine yet.

Alright, so that rules out if this is a potential issue.

But can anyone think of any games not listed in the OP that I would have had to have registered an account for?

Someone probably made an account using your email.

No, I'm pretty sure I made it, about a year ago. But what the stuff for is a complete mystery to me.

stuff, I think I got it, did any DayZ related things use Battle.net?

I'm pretty sure it's a scam

Most likely the reason it got locked for "an unusual change in its access pattern" is either
A. someone managed to gain access to your account, which is unlikely since you haven't used it in forever apparently, or
B. it's a scam and someone wants your inactive account for dirty stuff.

This is where I got the e-mail from:

Greetings,

Blizzard has locked the Battle.net account - due to an unusual change in its access pattern.

If you recently changed your connection pattern, you can unlock your account with a simple password reset. Visit the Password Reset page to begin the process. The form can also be reached by clicking “Can’t log in” on any Battle.net login page.

If you did not recently change your connection pattern, someone else may have attempted to access your account using your password. We encourage you to follow our security checklist to secure your computer, and then performing a Password Reset to unlock access.

Once you’ve regained access, consider adding Battle.net SMS Protect, a free service that allows you to quickly recover your Battle.net account using a mobile device. For more information, see the SMS Protect FAQ.

Regards,

Probably should have added that in the first place.

I do believe that's the actual email that Blizz uses for that sort of stuff, so it's most likely someone's gained access to your account. How they did that I have no idea unless Blizz changed their account security since last I checked.

Also, as far as I know, DayZ doesn't use battle.net.
