Hey guys, can you please honestly answer this question for me? It's social studies related and my teacher says if we don't do it correctly she will give us a "surprise punishment"-
"Reading skill- Use latin word origins- Connect the roots ad-, meaning "out", and optare, meaning "choose or wish", to the modern english word "adopted" as it is used in the following sentenc: "To raise capital, americans adopted new ways of organizing business"

i think she means to sort of translate it and put the translated words into the sentence

therefore it should probably be "To raise capital, Americans chose out new ways of organizing business."
