Author Topic: Texture alphas  (Read 1049 times)

Ok, so there have been a couple times I've needed this, so I'm asking now. Is there a way to export the dts with textures which have alphas? (Parts that are 100% opaque and others 100% transparent) when i use them currently, all it does is add a flat color like black, grey, or white to the transparent area.. this would be a HUGE plus for me to remedy this problem, if possible..

Milkshape or Blender

It is usually handled under material setting while exporting in both

Milkshape. hmm.. any clue what that setting would be..?

In the exporter to the top right there should be materials, select the material you want and choose edit. now at the very bottom checkmark "Translucent".

I'm not sure what exactly Additive and Subtractive are, but Additive will make it brighter and Subtractive seems to make it darker.

Just leave Additive and Subtractive unchecked and it will use the texture's alpha.

Subtractive and Additive are blending modes; with Subtractive, it subtracts the color of whatever the color of the translucent object is from whatever is behind it. Additive does the opposite. Use Additive to make the background seen through the object seem brighter, and use Subtractive to make it darker. However, because of the way the Subtractive blending mode works, you'll want to you the inverted color of the tint you actually want. For example, a turquoise-ish color would give you a pink-ish tint. You'll want to use this on an outward facing plane for the windows. If you like, you can duplicate the windows and flip the normals so that you can see the windows on the inside and outside of the vehicle.

But isn't transparency broken in BL because of v21?
