cant change forum avatar

Its very odd whats happening. If I change my forum avatar to any .gif it makes it my old .gif avatar, and if I change it to any .png it makes my avatar what it currently is. No matter the filename etc.

Any ideas?

make sure the image dimensions are 75x75
upload the file and press F5
