How do I use a new map?

I just have downloaded some maps off of the Map's section in these forums and I put everything where it's supposed to go in the blockland folder and I go to use the map (in the game: start new game, etc.) but the picture says 'unknown map' and when I press 'start' (non-internet game, just singleplayer), it says 'Invalid Packet: 12'.
I am using a Mac computer.

Chances are that either the map is corrupt or an addon you are using is not compatible with this map.

When setting up a server, click addons and disable them all.  Still having this problem?  Try redownloading this map's main file again.  Main file should be in .mis and .ter.
